My Subaru could use that for literally anything placed on the passenger seat. Putting your cellphone on the seat will likely set off the dinging.
Seatbelt fatalities are like 2%. Ejection fatalities are 83%. The odds are far more favorable to just wear the damn things.
but muh freedumb snek
Frano Selak disagrees
Guess they’re not manly enough to just snip whatever wire is going to it.
On an tangentially related note, one thing that Georgia (the country) has taught me is to always check buckle first before pulling the belt when riding an Uber or any local taxi. Used to pull belt instinctively right away, but in there, too often have I found that, while the belt is still present, the buckle has been completely removed and the driver being visibly annoyed seeing me fumbling trying to find it. I didn’t fuss about it, though, the city traffic was so slow I didn’t feel unsafe without one, the road police was non-existent(=no fines), and it’s not really my business as a tourist to tell locals how to drive.
Whenever I see this logo in an obviously right-wing context I think of Big Shot. It’s almost like the character was created for these idiotic Punisher-worshipping fascists.
Tangentially related, the love action “The Tick” went way harder than it has any right to. Kinda sucks it’s only on prime now. I might be a statistical insignificant piss ant, but I have existed without directly contributing to the evil that is Amazon so far and I don’t plan on breaking that streak
Weird flex
Yeah, granted. But it’s a flex I’m proud of.
I would only use this for the passenger seat when I put heavy things in it for transport. Usually just buckle behind the item though.
Mine only goes off for about a minute. I drive Uber for pocket money, and I don’t tell anyone that. The amount of people that never buckle up is astonishing! Maybe 5% of my trips involve someone in the front seat and out of the ~1k trips I’ve done, two(Two TWO FUCKING TWO) buckled up without prompting.
In my country the driver can be fined if there’s someone unbuckled in the car.
I think I can get fined too here. But if you drive a respectably newish car, they won’t bother you. I went from an '05 Hyundai(when I got pulled over every two months like clockwork!) to a newish Avalon and haven’t even been followed yet.
Every Republican I personally know breaks laws like these all the time, and yet when a cop murders someone they say “they shouldn’t have broken the law”

Complete with bottle opener! Now you can drive drunk without that annoying chime to remind you to put your seatbelt on!
That was the first thing I noticed. It looks like a bad design for plausible deniability; i feel like you’d have to eject it to open your beer while driving.
Surprised it doesn’t come wrapped in Paracord, with a knife and a window breaker. Full tactical seatbelt avoidance.
If you don’t wear your seatbelt you become the window breaker.
It must be a punisher logo. Of course.
Sometimes I feel like I should get in on the grift. I couldn’t bring myself to sell an anti-safety device in good conscience, but there’s bound to be a ton of pointless shit I can stick a skull on and sell this crowd.
I thought about selling overpriced tee shirts with obvious trolly text. Like the typical skull and fire, maybe a motorcycle, reading something like “the wearer of this shirt is loyal being all reason, they stick with a decision no matter how bad!”
See it depends on the target audience. Any antisafety device that targets cops is a safety device for the general public; every cop that exits through the front of the car is dozens of minorities not harassed or fed into the prison-industrial complex.
That’s why China should make 200,000 watt electric bikes, no ABS, no TC except on takeoff, lithium battery and center of gravity located just below the rider’s balls, and offer a 95% active duty US and IDF servicemen discount. It comes in 3 colors, olive drab flag, gun metal and grey flag, and flag.
President Xi, I know you’re reading this, I have other great ideas too.
Unfortunately the punisher logo looks kinda cool. But when I see it everywgere I have the feeling I’m dealing with a right wing lunatic.
Firstly, fuck the assholes who go into the whole right wing punisher bullshit. Just getting that part of this out of the way.
Secondly, wear your fucking seatbelt. It’s literally there to save your fucking life. And the lives of those around you. Just fucking do it.
But finally, there are legitimate uses for (non punisher themed, I guess) seat belt silencers. Because of her disabilities, my mom had to use one of these for most of my life. She was unable to wear the seatbelt. There are also autistic folks with doctors notes exempting them from it because of severe sensory issues. Also, have you never put a bag of groceries on the passenger seat, only to be annoyed to hell and back by the beeping?
No, actually I don’t want right-wing assholes wearing their seat-belts. The sooner they take themselves out the better. Let them win the Darwin award.
Killing some innocent person with their body… Sweet 😑
Has that ever happened? Someone ejected from a car in a crash killed or injured someone else?
Well yes?
Classic is no seat belt in the back, children killing their parents (and dying), but there are also people flying out of the front windshield into the other frontal crashing car killing people in there.
We got laws for a reason, not just to jerk with people.
For groceries, just buckle the seatbelt.
Yeah i was gonna say this.
I’d never drive while a passenger isn’t wearing a belt (notwithstanding the exceptions you mentioned).
However, it is kind of annoying i cant put things on the front passenger seat while I’m running errands.
Another example would be on farms. Forever getting in and out of the car for gates or what have you, feeding livestock, et cetera.
I think the punisher skull is a bit much though.
I could use one on my empty passenger seat because the sensor in the seat is defective(where it thinks there’s always a passenger) but i instead just buckle the seatbelt across the empty seat.
This should be something that you can disable through a setting in your vehicle. Don’t make me cut wires, or trick the system into thinking I’m buckled in… just let me turn off the beeping. If I’m in my car and I’m not wearing my seat belt, then I am fully aware that I’m in my car and not wearing a seat belt! It is so frustrating to spend tens of thousands of dollars on something that is specifically designed to annoy you.
And yes, I agree… wear your fucking seat belt! But, sometimes I’m just driving to the end of my driveway and will never get above 5 mph.
But then the idiots who buy there devices would use the setting when not needed, some would inevitably die, and they would sue the car makers for letting them turn off an obviously necessary safety device. At least with these things, it shows you’re disabling the safety device and so you’re on the hook when you end your journey flying through a sheet of glass and into traffic at 40 miles an hour.
This isn’t true. There are several car companies that let you disable the alert and they aren’t getting sued. The problem is that not every car company gives you the option to do so.

imagine public transportation being an option. america is insanely car dependent
Wow.
My father used to do this until I annoyed him the fuck out…or because the state gave him a large enough fine for him to realise seatbelts weren’t actually that uncomfortable.
What’s punisher and what’s the politics about it?
Punisher is a comic book character named Frank Castle. He’s an anti-hero who targets and kills criminals, but especially corrupt cops (the worst type of criminals). Right wingers, and cops, have co-opted his logo (the Skull) because Punisher is a badass and they think it makes them look like badasses. They either aren’t aware that he hates cops, and most things right wingers like, or they just aren’t self-aware enough to realize that Frank would likely beat the shit out of them if he saw them using his skull.
Thus is covered in the Daredevil show that came out a few months ago. It was pretty good.
I’ve flipped two cars. The only injury I had from those two incidents was cutting my finger in safety glass due to my own stupidity. The major down side to seatbelts is that they are difficult to undo when your car is upside down. The benefit of seatbelts is that they let you complain on the Internet about how hard it is to undo your seatbelt when upside down.
I read “flipped” as in “bought it cheap, fixed it up, sold it” and was mildly confused until I re-read it
how did you flip 2 times?!
Nobody took my license away.
it seems like you ought to do that yourself after the second
… Fair enough
If you’re upside-down isn’t a downside actually an upside for you?
Because it makes me laugh, I may have been saved in a rollover because I was not wearing my seatbelt. My truck had Takata airbags, which I only know because after I rolled it I got the recall letter from ford letting me know. The recall is because they go off like a claymore and spray shrapnel.
a highway patrol captain gave a safety seminar at my old job, and I still remember what he said about seatbelts - after decades on the highway, working countless crash scenes, he had only had to un-buckle one dead person from a crash. All of the other dead people in crashes were not wearing theirs.
My seatbelt did save me. My work van got T-boned by a semi that blew a red light (dumb American traffic light highway intersection), and my belt saved me from getting a shifter knob added to my abdominal cavity.
Wear it, y’all.
Did they say what that number was?
1 out of 3, 1 out of 300…
yes! don’t wear a seatbelt! break the rules! die in car accidents like a MAN!
a manly manly maaaaaaaaannnnnn
you little boys just wouldn’t understand.
I like the ones that’re combo’d with bottle openers better. Really sells the disregard for everyone involved.
The one in the picture looks like it has bottle openers on either side of the skull.
I like that its sharp enough that it would probably cause an injury eventually
And it’s a skull, cause it’s a future self portrait.
Nah you might get burnt then it’s ash. If they’re driving a cyber truck then cremation would make more sense.
Cars don’t actually make very efficient crematoriums generally, it’s pretty horrific for everyone else involved.
yay, drunk driving and no seatbelt for a double ‘fuck myself and everyone else’ combo
Tbf even without the drinking it’s still a “… and everyone else”
Because when these dumbasses go flying through their windshield they sometimes live long enough to put a futile strain on our already fucked up heathcare system. And emergency service are not free.
Anything can be a bottle opener with a bit of practice.
I swear, I was just trying to open it and it slipped inside!
Just need to do more kegels.
Is that advice for men or women? The answer is yes.
Siri, what’s America like in 2025?
I’m such a tough badass, I can’t stand the feeling of a cloth strap across my chest
They yearn for the harness and are just too insecure to admit to it
