There’s a regional chain in LA called Tom’s Jr. It offered unbeatable value like its Big Mac clone that went for $3.50 until they very recently bumped the price up to $5 each.

When I was a kid my dad would take us to Halo Burger in the Flint, Michigan area once in a while. Haven’t gone in decades, since I grew up and moved away from the state. Something about how the burger was seasoned, just delicious. Nowadays I usually stop by Culver’s for a double deluxe, now that there’s one not far from the house (did earlier today, actually).

Five Guys is the only one I would be okay with. McDonalds is probably the worse, followed by wendys being 2nd worst. BurgerKing is… um… its like good for like your first try, then subsequent times it taste worse and worse each time you got there.

I don’t eat a lot of burgers so I probably don’t know what a “good” burger taste like, I grew up in an Asian household so I don’t exactly eat a lot of “western” food for the most of my life (like… relatively speaking, in comparison to the rest of the US).

None of them? I find it’s worth the extra $2 to go somewhere local or “fast casual”. Places like McDonalds , Wendy’s, and Burger King are overpriced garbage these days.

Also it doesn’t take much longer to make a burger at home. I get that cleanup can take some time, and a lot of folks are averse to deep frying at home. But if I want a burger and fries, nine times out of ten I’m going to make it myself.

I’m also a line cook so I probably enjoy cooking more than most folks

West coast dude that has visited all over the US. I’ve had BK/McD’s, Whataburger, Jack in the box, In-N-Out, Carl’s Jr, Smashburger, Sonic, Shake Shack, White Castle, Five Guys, A&W, and maybe a couple more I’ve forgotten. Best for me, hands down:

Culver’s butter burger with cheese and everything on it.

    Double teen burger from A&W.

Has enough meat with the double patty, and has all the toppings like onion, pickle, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, etc.

You have to specify A&W Canada. The US doesn’t have Teen burgers and they’re generally inferior.

Only one I can eat, impossible whopper. I wish they would go all in and use the superior black bean burger instead tho

When McDonald’s gets an equivalent, they’re going to make so much money off of me

My options are severely limited since I don’t eat meat, but The Habit makes a really nice veggie burger. They have one of the fake meat burger brands as well, but those honestly make me gag a little with how greasy they are.

My current favorite one is a “local” (it’s available nationwide though) one called Vicio, which means addiction in Spanish, I tried them because they opened a store near me and had a sign saying “We’re called Vicio, and we cook burgers, you can imagine the rest” which I thought was pretentious, and decided to test them, but they’re really good burgers.

Before those I would have said my favorite was Five Guys ones, still do but haven’t had them in a while. And before those I used to like a local gourmet burger place back in Brazil.

Twenty years ago I lived across the street from Dick’s on Broadway. So many late nights ended with stumbling a few yards for a greasy bag of Dick’s. Interestingly enough, my former residence is now the Capitol Hill light rail station. But thank the good lord Dick’s is still there.
