        There used to be smartphones with rtc wakeup (ultra low power built in clock that can turn on the phone at a given time even when fully off) and its a fucking joke that this doesnt exist anymore. Why tf would i want my phone to be always on?

          As depressing as it sounds, the average user wants to get constant notifications, feedback, and the ability to instantly slide open social media in 2 taps, regardless of time of day.

          Plus, a ton of people charge overnight, not giving a shit about battery degradation.

            Isn’t that why most modern phones have an adaptive charging feature to trickle charge overnight to be full by morning/your alarm?

      I also use a 10 year old android phone as my alarm, mainly to be able to pick whatever song I want to wake up to. That’s why I do not understand why OP is using Piezo as their ringtone. That must be the most annoying sound ever!

          The point is that I don’t want my actual phone near my bed. I use an old decrepit phone instead of an alarm clock because then I can pick which song to wake up to.

    Don’t sleep. Stay up all night. Drink shit ton of water and stay mobile as much as possible. Eat a 4th or 5th meal too.

    Then go to sleep super early because of the exhaustion.

    …sigh…

      Yep, that’s what I usually do as well. If I sleep for only an hour or two, then trying to wake up and get going for the world is going to be absolute hell. So I stick it out. Although there will be moments in the day that I regret that decision.

      Usually I’ll end up sleeping early that next day but every now and then, it’s like you’re almost so tired that there’s an integer overflow and you end up wide awake again. So sometimes after an all nighter, I’ll only actually end up going to sleep at like 3am the next night. Usually when I’ve got some stupid fkn pointless fixation going on, like working on a game guide or making lists of something to collect.

    My first smartphone was originally a Windows 8 phone but my dad put Cyanogen (the predecessor of Lineage aka degoogled Android) on it. Must have been something like 2012. The UI looked exactly like this.

        Just keep upping the caffeine. They sell caffeine power which can be added to essentially anything. If you pace it correctly, you could be up for the entire week before you finally go comatose on the weekend

          That’s not necessarily going to help. I fell asleep on 2 NoDoz back in the day trying to keep myself awake to study. But I also have ADHD, so caffeine doesn’t affect me normally at a certain point.

          … you are aware that over 400mg of caffeine is considered over the safe limit, right? It’ll be several grams before you die, but ending up in the hospital may not be worth whatever you need to accomplish.

            Wait legit? I was joking but to be serious if that’s true I’m pretty sure I’m legitamitly constantly going above that limit.

            That’s only 4 standard coffees. Each at an average of 100mg. I do two in the morning, one at lunch, at least three mugs of black tea a day and some green tea too.

            That’s on a normal day man. Thanks for the warning maybe I should try cutting back.

              Caffeine also has a half-life of around 8 hours so you may be accumulating.

              I took some strong cold brew tea in a few weeks, it kept me wide awake but ended up giving me heart palpitations.

              Now I use caffeineinformer to calculate safe limits, and stop drinking at around 17 to give the caffeine some time to get out of my system.

              Yeah I explained it to another person here when they showed a whole shelf of monsters lol, but it’s pretty well summed up here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine

              The limit is different depending on which health agency you’re estimating with, but the most conservative estimate I found was 320mg, with the most lenient being about 500mg.

              Depending on your body weight, it’ll take a few grams to kill you, most likely around 10, and thats per day, so if you have 4 cups of coffee you might just need to knock it down to 3 or use it as needed rather than daily.

        Yep. Either that, or you’re just exhausted but also caffeinated so can’t sleep, and then you can’t focus all day, and end up being unproductive.

        Hopefully it’s for a flight or something, and you’re a good airplane sleeper.

    I once screwed myself over and worked for 24 whole hours with 3 part time jobs. Load in(setting up a stage) for IATSE at 4am, then a 7am start at cafe, then off to a grocery store to stock shelves by 2pm, then back to IATSE for loadout (teardown) at 10pm and finally a reprieve from this capitalist hellscape at 4am…
