  • Again, we can’t make you see the point if you don’t want to.

You appear to be looking to not tell the two apart, and I don’t particularly care to go into all the reasons why this mentality is stupid and reductive as hell to the point of being actively poisonous to the ends you’re working to achieve. Because I’ve had this conversation before, and I literally can’t make you see the point in looking into the differences when you don’t want to. And, imo, that’s the exact mentality that got us here, because why bother voting less bad when ThErE’s No DiFfErEnCe BeTwEeN tHeM.

Perfect is the enemy of better, and chasing perfection instead of improving things is only going to burn it down. Which is also what a number of people who share your point of view want. And unfortunately, now is the time of monsters…

  • Why would the year, the least important, need to be first?

For proper ordering for one. ISO8601 is objectively the best way to label anything that might need to be ordered based on time. This forces data points to line up properly in chronological order, and makes it easy to time slice as needed.

And why are the pieces of the pyramid made so the ISO standard is the only one that looks right?

Because it’s the only one that goes from largest value to smallest. It’s first because you start from the largest as the base (year) and work down through size to seconds.

ss:mm:hh:DD:MM:YYYY would also order the numbers based on length, but would look terrible if represented like that

Agreed. And any sort of data analysis would be so much harder

  • You need to remember that the technical people may not have an issue with it, but the bean counters tend to be more stuffy and upright about shit. And a lot of clients are especially up tight in my experience. Something about paying you money and expecting standard business responses.

I wouldn’t give a shit if I saw that, but I absolutely would not send that up the chain if a junior sent me that screenshot (or I’d crop it down to the most useful info. Last thing I want to do is listen to some asshole c-level complain at me for 20 minutes about professionalism.

  • So is your argument is that satire isn’t a thing? Because this is rather clearly a satirical meme, and that kind of ridicule by inversion is pretty solidly a feature of satirical works.

Irl it was an obviously intentional act that was claimed to be an accident, and this is an accident that is mockingly taking something that’s clearly an accident and describing it like it was intentional but trying to claim it was an accident, to make fun of how utterly unbelievable the original claim is by contrasting it with the same argumentation of something that is very unlikely to be intentional.

I think your mistake is thinking this is a counter argument rather than just mocking their idiocy with some really dry satire.

  • What a shit take.

Yes, people should also be upset about Biden sending bombs to Israel, but that’s been going on for years and, unfortunately, is pretty much well worn ground.

But muskmelon throwing a fucking Nazi salute is absolutely worth all of this attention, because it shows how little they care to hide it and how open they’re going to be about this shit.
