IRL if you have gay sex it only makes you gay if you find you like it and decide to identify as gay.

If you are a man and identify as bi, then no-one mainstream will want to date you and if you’re a woman and identify as bi, lesbians will be spooked but straight guys will fetishize you.

So you may want to identify as gay but exploring your straight side sometimes. Challenging your position on the Kinsey scale, as it were

According to Russel T Davies (and the series Bob & June which examines the idea) gay as an identity doesn’t necessarily correspond to behavior, which is how I’ve ended up in Lesbian culture while possessing male characteristics. (disclosure: I’ve been married to a lesbian for twelve years during which I re-identified as enby and renounced my manhood. It’s a long story.)

That said, the blood banks used to exclude men from donating if they ever had sex with another man, even once, what is a permanent exclusion where people who pay for sex are good after a year. I think this restriction is lifted now, but it was there for decades, including when I was donating plasma. So at least according to the California Pacific Blood Banks, a single intimate moment with another male hottie is enough to mark you as gay forever.

For every other part of LGBT+ -adjacent society, though, meh.

Ha ha ha, ye this caused a lot of “problems” early on (read: trolled a lot of homophobes) so much so that they updated the UI for that section to include a picture of the doll. I thought they did it deliberately and thought it was hilarious

I don’t recall sex being on the table with the dolls. Thought they just talked to V about dying while laying on the bed until you disconnected them from their program and asked them questions after.

Did I miss something? Or does having a deep conversation with a person of the same assigned gender while laying fully clothed in bed now make a person gay?

That’s just the storyline you’re thinking of.

You can buy ass on the side in the game too, like hookers in GTA except I think they have some sex scene animations, idk I don’t remember tbh.

Honestly, in my opinion, that’s even more gay. There’s nothing more intimate than lying together having a deep conversation. Anyone can take stuff in the ass (or give it). You have to be gay to actually be intimate with a man.

(Maybe I have a weird view on sex. Sex is an action, in my opinion. It doesn’t always mean something. I can have sex with people who I don’t have feelings for.)

Yeah getting upset about being catfished into a sexual confrontation with a gender you’re not attracted to is totally homophobic. Fuck those straights amirite?

If you’re so repressed that you can’t handle your fictional character lying next to a fictional male character, then that’s honestly nobody’s problem but your own. Go to therapy.

I agree with your comment, but I think the “am I gay now” comment refers specifically to game mechanics, not them as a person. I think they’re wondering if it locks them out of heterosexual content, hence the need for a save, which doesn’t revert you as a person back in time. (Your way is more funny though.)

Your only hope is to become so gay that you reach the end of the rainbow and the become a gayularity.

    It is your duty now.

Haha as a queer gamer that just makes me think, “Welcome to my world.”

I don’t mean that in a snarky manner, but the fact is, nearly all gaming is hetero-focused. I can relate to scenes and choices making you feel uncomfortable, because that’s my life. Gay representation is practically non-existent in gaming.

I recall when Blizzard added a couple of gay characters and quests to WoW and people lost their goddam minds complaining about representation being forced on them, though it was but a miniscule set of quests with unimportant side-characters. And never mind that straight representation is forced on all of use very day—that level of self-awareness was lost on the people whining loudest.

Merely acknowledging the existence of gay humans is too much for some.

That last line is an interesting issue. Some religious folk have to believe being gay is 100% a choice, otherwise it implies God either doesn’t mind, or does, but makes mistakes / has no control over it.

The mental hoops some folk have to jump through.

(Mild spoilers) That scene isn’t sexual tho, at least not with Fem V and the female option, Skye. As an asexual person who would rather not watch sex scènes, I was so ready to bail on that mission the moment things got spicy. But I ended up running through the entire conversation tree without having anything spicy happen. Rather, it turned into a sort of therapy session for V and honestly a quite emotional moment in the game.

It’s funny though to imagine that whole mission with a homophobic dude and having to do the same thing with the guy, Angel. Must be prime content to watch the homophobe be stressed beyond belief for what’s to come.

    Cyberpunk 2077 for normies:

Combat oriented transhumanism massively altering potentially every single aspect of your body?

    Sign me the fuck up!

    But also:

Bro I am really worried I might be gay and that is what is most concerning to me, yeah yeah cyber psychosis pfff all human interaction is reduced to a hyperreal transactional level where real trust and love are somewhere between impossible and lethally dangerous… fucking shut up bro its not that deep.

But … what if I’m gay, bro?

Also, what the fuck is a transperson with a luscious cock doing on that advertisement?!

You’re only allowed to modify your own body with offensive weaponry!

That is liscensed to a corporation, which you’ll never be able to pay off the debt note on, and which they can remotely shut down when you miss a payment!

Bro, genders a construct. Also do their balls actually touch?

Y’all remember mass effects controversy. Sex is just a tool to sell the game.

Troll op with “here’s a mod to change sex” jokes on him, it just changes their own character model to female.

NGL, happened to me exactly like that. It was a bit ‘unpleasent’ as in the unknown can be pretty scary. Like i’m fairly open and especially dont give a fuck what anybody else does. But the first person depiction of same sex… sex was pretty intimate in that game. Yeah, i like to see myself as _progressive _ and open but i’m still an average cis white male gamer. I’m mature enough to admit that it challengend me. I’ve never seen something like that. It was my first time. Dont get me wrong i still dont have anything against LGBTQ+. In the end i handled it as dumb as it sounds. But tbh i never saw somebody talk about that? Like i still want to be an ally but experiencing _gay _ stuff kinda first hand still was weird.

I mean, nothing wrong with that. I know my dad is an average male, and that he’s dating again, doesn’t mean I am especially keen to hear the noises coming from upstairs (I live with my dad).

Sex exists in many forms and that’s fine, but no one should feel pressured to “experience” or even “enjoy” it in any way if they don’t want to. And everyone should feel free to have their own opinions on their experiences.

I mean yeah. It was just an example to say it isn’t weird to feel uncomfortable with experiencing something you aren’t opposed to happening in general. Just the first thing that came to mind, idk

Makes total sense to me! Being an ally and being progressive has nothing to do with your tastes, preferences and comfort levels.

Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean anything at all about how accepting you are of others choices. If you feel still weird enough that it’s bothering you it’s OK to talk about it with your friends/family or a professional.

Eh, i got over it pretty fast. But in the end i was really happy about that experience since in gave me introspection about myself. More than i would ever expect from a fucking shooty video game with light rpg elements.

This reminds me of BG3 when Lae’zel comes onto you and ends it with “if not how then later” and I gave an answer I thought would delay it, but it just permanently locks you out. Lae’zel was my favorite.
