I recently saw an ad for biscoff and I was surprised that people would eat them randomly. The only time I ever eat biscoff is on a plane when the flight attendant gives me some. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love them but I rarely think about it as something I can just go buy in a store. Seeing the ad was so jarring because to me it doesn’t feel like something I should eat a lower altitudes

I do what I can only describe as parkour around the house 😂 my room has a bed and computer and i kinda have to walk around the bed to get to my computer so instead I’ll leap onto my bed, hit the bed, rotate and then hop on my computer. i’ll also do this side strafe/hop thing to get to a room quicker. i don’t know what started it but I’ve been like that since I was a kid pretty much lol

edit: basically like this (video) the one at 1:58 is how I get past my bed

I like to grab door handles with my just my index and pinky fingers. I don’t know why. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. It just amuses me a little. I think I started doing it pretending to be an alien.

When I pour Pepsi into a glass I put my nose over it and feel the bubbles fizz on my nose. I’ve done this since I was about 7 years old.

Pick some fresh berries from my balcony planter. Do a little happy dance while eating them.

I love this for you. What kind of plant is it? I’m slowly building my own balcony garden.

Wild strawberries grow small and give very tasty little fruits. They are easy to grow on a balcony though quite dramatic and need plenty of water when there is sun and heat. First year they didn’t give almost any fruit but second year on I have a handful of harvest daily all of late summer. Very satisfying.

I’ve tried having small bushes of goose berries but they got hit with mildew, probably because there wasn’t enough exchange of air.

Try different things, see what works where you are.

When browsing through used books, I try to guess which year the book was published based on typefaces, graphics, etc. and check with the copyright date on one of the front pages. For books published after ~1960, my guess is usually good to within 4 years.

I do this too, usually because I’ve run across an odd word choice or turn of phrase. I am way less accurate though.

My dad’s and I both occasional partake in a specific ritual that goes as follows:

    1. Crack open an ice cold Coke Zero (also works with coke. And probably other colas).

Take a few sips while you either pull fresh from the garden or out of the fridge:

    1. Radishes

Wash them up. You can slice, quarter or leave whole.

    Get snacking.

Enjoy your fresh, slightly spicy (or really spicy depending!) radishes with your cold bubbly coke.

    1. Wait.

    2. Burp

    3. Transcend this mortal plane, bask in the glory of the radish and coke burps that follow.

    Fin

I like barking and do it well enough that some dogs bark back to me. Most won’t, but some also have funny reactions.

I blow on the top of soda cans before opening them.

When I was very young I’d ride to and from school and it took me past my grandparents. During summer I’d stop in on the way home to grab a soda and because they kept them in a shed out back they’d get dusty before getting put in the fridge. So I’d blow the dust off and make sure the top is clean, fast forward 25 years and I still do it.

      TW: spiders

I do this too, because my parents did it. I made it a conscious habit after I found a tiny spider skeleton right under the opening of a can I’d already started drinking out of. Now I at least check, usually blow, sometimes rinse.

I actually do the same thing. A lot of cans that I get from convenience stores are covered it dirt and gunk. I’ll usually blow on the top or rinse the can.

Any volume adjustment that gives a numerical value needs to end in a 0, 2, 5, or 8.

Don’t ask, I couldn’t explain other than those numbers make me feel better.

If my wife changes it to something other than ending with those numbers I need to change it.

It’s more of a stupid habit, but I always lock my car twice. I know pressing the button once locks every door, but I can’t stop myself.

See, then pressing it twice would make sense. I’ve checked and I know that pressing it once locks all the doors. I do tend to double check my house locks so it could be a peace of mind thing. It could also be muscle memory from unlocking the door which actually does need two clicks to unlock the rear doors.

Mine locks on the first press, then beeps to confirm on the second (within a timer). I press it twice because every once in a while I’ll mix up the buttons and actually hit unlock, which has a different confirmation beep.

A few years ago I decided I wanted to improve my hand flute skills and began consciously practicing daily. Since then, I have developed the habit of playing the hand flute automatically when my hands are not busy.

I’m not superstitious, but when I’m walking on sidewalks or tile floors I have tended to try to avoid cracks or lines. It’s an easy but engaging puzzle to try to do it while maintaining a normal gait, like the ambulatory equivalent of Sudoku.

Then, one day, my high school geometry teacher taught us about angle bisectors and the game changed permanently. Now, in addition to visible lines, any line intersections now produce invisible bisector rays that must also be avoided. I made a picture to show where you can’t step on a sidewalk. It has been decades since high school geometry and I still try to avoid bisector lines any time I’m on a suitable floor. I have never added another rule to the game since, and it wasn’t til this post that I thought about how strange that is.
