Musk says Tesla will hold shareholder vote ‘immediately’ to move company’s incorporation to Texas::Billionaire Elon Musk justified the decision on the results of an unscientific poll run on his X account a day earlier.

      What a fucking loser

Wow, what insightful analysis and commentary.

You call him a loser, someone whose been responsible for the development of the first truly reusable rockets, beating any other system for cost to orbit by a couple orders of magnitude. He’s rolling in so much dough he could squander pretty much all of it for the rest of his life, but instead chose to do something with his money and influence.

I mean, yea, I don’t personally like the guy, but what a shit take, no observation upon the how’s/why’s of what he’s doing, just an insult.

He clearly has some kind of agenda. To just dismissively name call prevents any opportunity to discover what he’s up to. I’ll admit I can’t figure him out. With Twitter it seems he’s all about destroying the platform, which is a good thing in my mind. But SpaceX has done more than anyone else to reduce cost to orbit, material consumption, and develop more environmentally friendly fuels.

Do you really think he’s just making emotional decisions? Someone who’s been described as being on the autism spectrum by some folks?

What have you done again? Glass houses and all that, ya know?

      Hahah, bunch of “loser” downvoters.

Do ya all realize what that says about you?

You’re more interested in a comment insulting someone than trying to figure out what’s going on. You’re so emotionally driven, like children, you can’t even think about things.

Please, what I said is accurate, regardless of how you all “feel” about him. SpaceX would not be doing what it is today, if it weren’t for him.

We’re truly fucked because of people like you. Bunch of jackasses in glass houses.

He’s a fucking loser, and he’ll never love you no matter how much you hope he notices you.

Musk isn’t an Engineer. He hasn’t designed anything, the extent of his responsibility for anything of value is telling other people, smarter people, to invent something. He doesn’t create, he buys existing companies then parades around like he’s the one that started them.

You want a shit take? Take a look at how far out of your way you went to defend him and you’ll see that shit take. He hasn’t used his money to improve shit. He used it to burn 20+ billion dollars on a global communications platform and turn it into a cesspit of lies and nazis.

So yeah, we’ll dismiss him. Elon Musk is a fucking idiot that doesn’t know when to shut the fuck up and throws a tantrum every time he’s handed a loss.

        I was just going to ignore this obvious bootlicking, but this part, right here, needs to be called out;

Do you really think he’s just making emotional decisions? Someone who’s been described as being on the autism spectrum by some folks?

Let me be absolutely clear about something; you do not have the slightest fucking clue how autism works. I don’t even care if you personally are autistic; that just means you’re an autistic person who doesn’t have any fucking clue how autism works.

Autistic people are highly emotionally responsive. In fact most of what we struggle with is the sheer fucking intensity with which we feel things. The idea that we’re emotionless hyper logical robots is a bullshit fantasy pushed by badly written fictional stories that use autism as some kind of superpower (and usually as an excuse for a male protagonist to get away with being a total asshole towards everyone around them; especially women).

Your comment entire comment is basically a shrine to “reasons why this person should shut up forever”, but in particular I’m going to recommend that you never breathe another word about autism for as long as you live.

And if, somehow, you are an autistic person who believes this shit; get therapy.

I would agree with the point against Musk but really? We’re not all “highly emotional”. We’re all different. It sounds like you don’t know what you’re talking about. We’re not a hivemind.

You’re just as bad as the people who say we’re all emotionless robots. Both are sweeping generalisations.

Please quote the part of my comment where I said that autistic people are “Highly emotional.”

Actually, scratch that, I’ll just skip to the part where you can’t, because what I said was “Highly emotionally responsive,” which is not the same thing.

While it’s true that this is technically incorrect because there are exceptions to everything, I’m not going to apologize for failing to write my comment on a forum to Oxford University essay standards. My generalization was true enough for the purposes of the remark, could be easily understood to not be covering literally every single autistic person ever because people are infinitely complex, and was not propogating any harmful stereotypes that I am aware of, unlike the comment I was responding to.

Did you not read the article before responding? Its right in the first sentence:

“Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Thursday said the electric vehicle maker will hold a shareholder vote to transfer the company’s state of incorporation to Texas, after publicly lashing out at Delaware—where the company is currently incorporated—over a court decision that voided the billionaire’s massive $50.9 billion pay package.”

The How’s and Why’s is because Tesla is incorporated in Delaware, a state famously favorable to businesses, and he lost a court ruling that is going to affect his wealth. There’s no changing that ruling, but moving would mean different but not better legal challenges going to Texas.

Further, he’s claiming he’s making this move because of a Twitter poll! Twitter has become extremely polarized since Musk’s purchase has become more of an echo chamber of “yes men” gravitating to Musk’s extreme positions. So he has a biased audience and putting it to a vote seemingly to try and add legitimacy to the decision. That is either deceitful because he knows they’re “yes men” or terrifyingly out-of-touch that he doesn’t know they’re “yes men” affirming his decisions because he’s asking for affirmation.

This is a massive failure either transparency or of self-awareness. Someone with Musk’s wealth and influence should do much much better than that.

Do you know how crooked you have to be to have a Delaware™ court rule against you?

Delaware™ is a wholly owned subsidiary of the DuPont corporation, all rights reserved.

Yeah, I alluded to that in my post but didn’t dive in. I think this is going to be worse for Musk and Tesla. There are all kinds of taxation and corporate liability protections in Delaware that don’t exist in Texas. There are possibly teams of lawyers salivating over this incorporation change going into place opening up new and previously unavailable avenues to attack Tesla under Texas law, or rather without Delaware protections.

Hey, just a friendly heads up:

“Eluded” means escaped or evaded. “He eluded capture once again.”

The word you wanted was “alluded”, meaning to suggest or indirectly hint at without outright stating.

Personally if there was an opportunity for a freaky Friday situation and I could switch lives with Musk, I would turn that down in a heart beat.

He’s rich, and did contribute to some impressive things in the past (he did not accomplish them himself), but that’s really all he has going for him.

He’s not a good person, most people dislike him, I don’t find him to be very intelligent in a lot of areas, his wife left him, all he has is money. I don’t think it would be a very good trade.

This has nothing to do with physical locality.

It’s because he lost a shareholder lawsuit over his exorbitant compensation package, and he’s being a whiny salty baby about it.

To be clear, Tesla is currently incorporated in Delaware, which is already well known for being extremely hostile to shareholder lawsuits like this. He picked the most favourable ground possible and still lost. He’s not going to get better treatment from Texas.

He’s just throwing his toys out of the pram because he’s mad, and forcing the entirety of Tesla to join in his tantrum.

I think it’s because Delaware has really lax laws on incorporating and a special court just for corporate stuff so legal issues can get sorted quickly.

          edit

Like in Delaware you can incorporate for like $500 a year and not even need to provide the names of the officers or ceo of the corporation.

It doesn’t matter where you’re incorporated. Previously, he was incorporated in Delaware, but had an HQ in California. Actually, most US corporations are incorporated in Delaware because the small state with not much else going for it has very very business friendly laws.

Si. I’m a buy-and-hold investor and so far, so good. I wish I had bought more. I’m up about 700% (it was much more at the beginning of the year). I’ve informed my decision on this as moving stakes to TX may open Tesla to significant legal liability and it’s being done solely in order to overpay the CEO, who is prone to making bad decisions. Overall I’m less than a drop in the bucket but I’m against it.
