Why wasn’t Europe doing shit for Ukraine until a Russian puppet got installed in the US whitehouse. This was a EU problem 2 years ago too but you didn’t do shit about it. I’m a Ukrainian American and you folks have let Ukraine down.

You’re not Ukranian, you’re US american, that explains the brain rot of thinking Europe has done nothing for Ukraine, only a truly uneducated populace that elects orange nazis could believe such nonsense.

Together Europe has disbursed MUCH more than the US and allocated in total double of the total aid the US has contributed. GTFO with your Russian propaganda.

Really? Better check the numbers, cause EU has given the same ammount of aid as USA. The change now is that USA is withdrawing, not only from Ukraine but from Europe as well, leaving a huge gap in the defense.

Merz cares about Germany and wants to boost the military arming (and hopefully Germany’s economy), Ukraine’s situation is for him just a good excuse to achieve his goal, nothing more.

Zomg! All of Europe has given as much as the US? Oh I’m so sorry, that’s so impressive that like 30 countries gave as much as 1. Whew, I though we were getting screwed there for a minute. My apologies.

Yeah I’m sorry that one country has more GDP than 30 EU countries. And it is as double richer as EU.

And their defense budget is triple as EU, or more than the combined budget of the top 6 countries.

And maybe they started the whole shit by inviting you to join NATO with false security insurances, only to tell you in the end it won’t happen.

Unless you’re a first- or second-generation US-citizen, please think this and from where you’re arguing this from through.

As to why the EU and its members did not react and support this sufficiently, there are many excuses brought forth, but I’d concentrate on one point: Ideologies of foreign relations.

Many people in the (Western) EU prided themselves on the idea that Europe has been so peaceful for oh so long, especially if one doesn’t look thoroughly. They taught that this peace came to be through peaceful revolutions and disarmament diplomacy.

Nothing of this is really true, but there is certain underlying truth to it: If both sides are roughly in an power equilibrium, sufficiently scared of each other, war might be unlikely if both sides remain calm (Putin and Trump are perversions of all that).

Europe was split so long that it has no unified history. Imagine the American Civil War or German-Russian War froze for half a century. 1940s to 1990s, Europe was split and now the EU is made up of culturally rich, but distinct splinters.

Marshall plan, NATO, Comecon, nuclear shields always made sure that Russia and USA are involved.

With USA and Russia going mad after losing influence, EU and Europe is still thinking that if it behaves that there won’t be consequences or the stress of autonomy.

EU is still split enough that its members are unsure how to proceed. Commission has not enough power to speak an overriding word of authority (Machtwort), and West European members like Germany, France, BeNeLux or Italy are too split internally to send strong long term support.

I believe that many politicians think that if they do strong short term support, Ukraine will lose the war, they won’t be reelected and Europe, their country stands weaker against Russia, USA and China.

I think your anger is justified. Europe needs to grow up.
