Putin’s plan is still that Yanuk could be put to govern Ukraine. That was the original plan of February 2022. Probably not a main plan anymore, but one door he wants to retain open.
At this point they might have better chances of installing Yomamanukevych as a president in the US than Ukraine.
Absolutely! But I don’t think Putin truly gets this. His only sources of information are extremely biased.
Remember, he does not use the Internet. For anything. Ever. Everything he knows comes from his aides, and he has punished all aides that said something in contradiction with what the other, lying, aides said. Basically ridding himself of anyone halfways honest.

So they dug him out to make a sloppy jab at EU implying it’s their fault or/and lack of enthusiasm back then, only to project it onto current situation to show EU weak and unfriendly now and demoralize the observer. I mean, eurointegration was the cornerstone of the 2014 protests and you then escaped to Russia, still reside there, give such interviews lol. It’s probably some favor to give him publicity at last, because even by the low standards of propaganda that looks like reusing and patching a condom.
