I managed a bit over 2 months without smoking once, I did cold turkey. Got hooked again after a stressful night in the ER where another patient waiting offered me a smoke.

Thanks for the encouragement! EDIT: And congrats on a year!

I’ve never been a smoker, but I feel like people should ask “do you smoke” or something first before offering anything. Maybe also there should be some kind of identifying thing to wear that says “I’m trying to quit” so people don’t even ask. It’s that easy spur-of-the-moment event that causes so many relapses. I’m sure most people have tried to quit and relapsed, so you’d think there’d be some empathy not offering to people so hastily.

If you say “I’m trying to quit” instead of “I don’t smoke” what are you even doing. Doesn’t matter if you used to smoke yesterday.

Thanks! Its a process that needs management, it doesnt have an end point unfortunately, its just part of my maitenance like brushing my teeth. You got this! A relapse isnt a failure, its acknowledgment youve been successful to that point, next time youll go even longer without.
