Climate change. On our current course, the best case scenario is famine, war, and a really shitty world for billions of people. The worst case scenario is self-perpetuating cycles that wipe out our civilization and maybe humanity.
It’d be cool if those didn’t happen.

What jurisdiction are you in?
It’s like having kings or elves in a fantasy story. Readers know what to expect, so the writer doesn’t need to establish that they’re in charge, or that they’re noble, etc. They’re archetypes that most consumers are familiar with.
And writers stick to what they know. If they’ve been exposed to these mythologies, then they’ll use them. If they’re exposed to other mythologies, they’ll use those.
For a brief shining moment it seemed like the first Canadian housing subreddit might actually have an effect. And then it imploded. So we had to wait another few years for politicians to catch up and do almost nothing.

Hard agree. Any statements about working conditions a company makes needs third party verification. Last time I checked, the Fair Trade peeps were the most reputable verifiers.
I’m not sure how many napalm bombs the US military has, but I’m pretty sure that they don’t have tons of flamethrowers.
/unjerk so googling around slows that the US military stopped using them in the 1970s. TIL.

Say that three times fast and a SIG sales rep appears behind you.
A thirty-something woman was trick or treating at my town’s trunk or treat. She’d put effort into her costume. 🤷♂️
That looks like the best fit. Thanks!
Communities need a critical mass of people to post/comment/like. Lemmy barely has that. Individual communities can almost get it. But if they’re fragmented, they won’t.
That makes a lot of sense.
We’re gonna party like it’s 1699!
That looks great! I like that it doesn’t have a fan. Thanks for the link.
I like empirical testing! Thanks!
Imagine being an adult raised without all-you-can-stomach porn and suddenly getting access to the Internet.
SO. MANY. BLISTERS.
