About 20 and growing. I also do it for my mental health. Social media isn’t a place I want to take too seriously so my blocks are about avoiding people who seem agitated or seeking to create or participate in conflict with other members.
I’m thinking about clearing out my blocks every year just to get a sense of the land again, maybe when I’m feeling better I’ll do that.
140 in 2 months sounds like a lot to me. Are you not blocking communities? That might be more efficient?
In the fall we usually get a few hours of rain and then it clears away to cloud or sun and that’s my favourite weather.
Same here but I remind myself that multiple things can be true at once just like I can feel multiple conflicting emotions or hold conflicting thoughts or opinions.
babies born into bleak future by humans who forgot to consider whether or not it’s in the best interest of anyone but themselves
The forum I used to spend a lot of time on in my youth was incredibly active - comments all night every couple minutes. The regional areas where practically dead. What we need are thriving core communities not critical mass. I like not being bombarded by thoughtless and judgmental comments
I’d guess that 50-100 active users could make any community feel vibrant. I’ve noticed when I post in a smaller community it can get solid responses (fast replies from a dozen or so users), but they die out after a day or two and people need to be posting all the time to keep it up.
At this point I’ve blocked so many .world communities that I don’t see that as much. There are some users who I notice bring the reddit antagonism and I tend to block them too. If I come across a post that is full of reddit quips I just block the whole community. I guess I’ve blocked fewer .ml communities overall.
Ya it’s not bad. In the popular areas it seems like I can get away with just commenting on things but smaller communities I need to make a post to make it feel not-dead in there.
I’ve had a couple tenga’s but I feel like these are meant to be disposable. Never a flip though, kind of pricey.
Holy shit all this time I thought The Picard Maneuver was an entire sub and thanks to that meme earlier I see you’re an actual person. Finally clued in…
Good stuff too!
Also this seems like an idea worth trying. Cheap, maybe might work? Idk. I’m not inside hurricanes ever.
The economy is in a weird spot where data looks alright (employment and gdp) but the covid economy hit everyone including your friendly neighborhood corporation. Ads are a simple and reliable way to turn up profits in a soft economy and declining global situation and inflation. Since companies have effectively stolen wages for so many years they can’t cope with modest wage spike on their bottom line or really any disruption anywhere in their business they use ads to print money. Maybe as time goes on business will benefit from slowing wage growth and increasing automation we will see ad growth scale back. Regulation would be nice but what are you going to do?

Zombeavers
I haven’t but this is the second time it’s popped up today so I’ll put it on now.
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
I watched this recently. Actual not-dumb characters is sooo nice. I’d written this off as just yet another Romero style zombie movie but it has it’s own thing going on. I think given how much I liked Tusk (saw it last night) and Dale and Tucker vs. Evil I have a soft spot for R rated horror comedy.
Pontypool pairs well with 30 days of night (and Tusk pairs well with The Substance).

Wow how do you normally deal with that?
Id expect more voting and less comments in political posts just because people may want to avoid direct conflict with other users. I’m iffy on the whole up/down thing in general though.
