I’m subbed to my local NPR’s daily top news stories. Highly recommend folks in the US look to see if their local station has a similar program or find the closest one.
This really depends long-term. Not everyone that experiences trauma develops PTSD, but at least speaking for myself, I’ve had a few decades of hopelessness, helplessness, and a lot of general emotional immaturity for my age. Particularly since so much of it occurred when I was a kid and heard the line about being mature…I regress to that childish mindset often in my 30s still. It’s taken a lot of effort to develop the social support I’ve needed in conjunction with therapy and education to even start the process of actively healing rather than just surviving.
I remember thinking she had dropped it on accident and felt bad for her when I first saw it as a kid. She made a little “oh!” with a look of what I thought was surprise
Lmfao I had to start using the covers for litter boxes since one of mine does this. I feel bad, like I know it’s not great for them to feel confined but…I am not letting that continue
My state is trying to constitutionally ban the use of ranked choice systems 🫠 fingers crossed the muppets just drew enough awareness to implement it after we reject this amendment
Oh shit, idk why that hadn’t clicked for me before. I’m really sorry. Of course that makes sense
It’s not having a face tattoo on its face that’s the issue…heh pun intended
I mean that’s exactly what trans means, so they’re just being redundant and perpetuating this weird fear mongering. Honestly some of them are just stupid, others seem to know a lot of constituents are stupid and appeal to it while knowingly preventing funding for education so future voters AREN’T stupid
I need to ask my parents, cuz last I heard around June my dad had snapped out enough to at least to say he was considering not voting for the first time ever in a national election. There’s an ironic push for ranked choice style options moving forward now thanks to our state Republicans trying to revert back to caucuses and pissing a bunch of constituents off by having us vote to ban other options
Honestly I wonder how much reading comprehension they struggle with. Like the average reading level is 8th grade, if that iirc. I swear they drop out as soon as there are big words cuz they get pissed they can’t understand. People that lean left are clinically shown to be more* (not not) open minded, and I imagine are the ones going and googling when they don’t know or have someone right there they trust to explain.
Well it’s mostly been kinda both for a while hasn’t it? I wonder how my dad’s dad would feel about Trump, though. Never got to meet him but he was a POW in the Bataan Death March
We still have a ways to go with psychologist research, to be fair. My dad served two tours between 2003-2006 and only more recently came to understand PTSD isn’t something you just “get over.”
Same for sexism. It’s not easy for service members to get over that engrained idea of protecting women at the cost of the team. There’s a lot of promising research in resilience studies preparing military members prior to entering combat that I think could apply. As long as researchers and artists involved in VR type training are careful to include particular elements like more femme voices and such, it can be overcome before it’s an issue in active combat
And to be clear, I’m not familiar with the research veterans have cited to me that it is an issue to begin with. I’ve only really looked at PTSD and the use of VR for exposure therapy and CBT. I’m inclined to believe it would be an issue for at least some men. I’d like to look at Israel as a case study example when I get some time since they’ve had compulsory service for men and women for a while now
There’s a Netflix doc titled something like “the staircase” where a guy got tried for murder because his wife fell down some stairs. Regulations are written in blood, as they say
Please be mindful of the misinformation here. NPD is nuanced and difficult to treat, as with any personality disorder, but it is absolutely possible.
Good example for why journaling can be useful:)
Have you seen voter turnout for the general population, much less younger demographics?
Well murder risks further interaction with cops, the legal system, lawyers… Can I just stare at the stranger for 5 seconds? I could probably manage a smile.
Wait, you’re a stranger! Look ma I did it!
Same! There’s some interesting measures on our ballot that I’m making videos on to raise awareness for like rank choice voting. If you know anyone from Missouri have them check out my YouTube or TikTok! Links are in my profile:)
Are they arguing it wasn’t random though? I mean Shakespeare had to think through the plot and everything, not just scribble nonsense on a page
