Haier is a Chinese company that makes their own appliances but also owns Hotpoint and the GE Appliances brand. I don’t know much about their own brand, but both Hotpoint and GE have increased in quality and reliability since they got bought up in 2016. GE appliances in the lower-end are rebadged Hotpoints and are “ok” in quality and reliability. GEs from the mid-range up are pretty good. I hear few complaints.

LG makes excellent washing machines and dryers and have a set on the lower-end that are suitable. Just make sure to get a washer with direct drive and auto load balancing. A direct drive has no belt (a common point of failure) and auto load balancing keeps the washer stable and helps prevent the drum from warping over time. Plus LG toppers (under the lid) are plastic so they don’t rust.

Of course, if you’re getting front-loaders those last two bits won’t apply, but the direct drive things still will.

for the GOP, it was never about age or fitness with Biden-- that was just another weakness to attack; it didn’t even matter if it was true. With Trump, it’s all about “our team must win”

Trump on the GOP ballot than someone who is younger and may be better able to seem less openly deplorable. I disagree with that notion and also think Trump should step down because any chance that he wins the election is too high of a chance.

there are - astonishingly - a lot of undecided voters - especially those who would otherwise not have voted at all - as well as a lot of people i’m calling “Maybe-Not-Trumpers” who aren’t gonna vote for Kamala, but just might be pushed into staying home rather than voting for Trump after finally being pushed too far by him and his politics. from polling i’ve seen over the last couple of weeks, these two groups makes up enough (esp in the surprise in-play swing states of FL and PA) that it could make a real difference for Kamala.

esp in FL and other states where cannabis and abortion are on the ballot (again, like FL), there’s expected to be huge turnout from the left that could even swing the state. i’m not getting my hopes too high, but FL could go blue for the first time in 20 years this election, from top to bottom, president to senate to state house, even in some significant local elections. Desantis fucking blew it here for the GOP, and two decades of failures have changed a lot of voters’ positions here.

This is my bet. She’s very good at doing that just with speeches and campaign ads. Just imagine how great she’ll do in person!

You already do only one load at a time. Just because you’re doing 1/2 in the wash and 1/2 in the dryer simultaneously doesn’t change the math.

In any case, I happen to sell appliances. If you can get your hands on one of the 2-in-1s with an inverter heat pump, they seem to be pretty popular and have good reviews. And the cost can be offset by the energy savings as they’re very energy efficient compared to a standard washer/dryer pair.

I recommend the LG or GE model. Avoid Samsung.
