Do you know how long it takes to do everything?

Eternity. I doubt even with all time forever you’d be able to do everything. Our world is ever-changing, much less the wider universe.

The one stipulation I’d put on living forever is the ability to change with the universe. Who’s to say physics will even allow us to perceive reality in a few billion years, if we’re stuck the way we are?

Wouldn’t that fall under the basic necessities part of OPs post?

I mean, I’m not saying things can’t get better… but they’ll never be like Idiocracy. The reason people seem to be getting stupider isn’t because of eugenics, it’s because of the concerted efforts of those in power to stigmatize intelligence. They’re not just going to up and disappear… they’re going to exploit the under-educated.

Will never happen, there’s far too many selfish smart people who aren’t waiting to have kids. There will be a ruling class as long as we continue on this path.

Which is, frankly, a ridiculous concept. If you only ever consider your own wants, compromise (a necessary concept in any non-authoritarian system) is impossible.

The problem is that politicians run the show, so if statesman (or legislators) want to get things done, they have to play the political game anyways. Becoming politicians by default.

Some politicians do, its just they tend to burn themselves out fighting against the neverending tide of the self-interested ones.

It doesn’t help that often they have little to no support structure because most people assume they’re corrupt by default.
