Probably proper knife skills. I’ve always been pretty good with a knife, but I’ve been taking my time to really refine the skill as I do a lot of cooking for large groups so speed is extremely useful. I honestly learnt a lot of it indirectly by just watching how chefs use them, but for the theory and all that I started with Lan Lam’s video on knife skills over at the America’s Test Kitchen yt channel.

I’m about to be going to an event where I’ll be cooking nearly a thousand meals a day for three days, so I’m going to be putting it to the test. The one nice thing is we’ll have a team of volunteers to help with ingredient prep, so it should be okay but daunting none the less.

I don’t like commercial “AI” period.

That said, I did find some use for chatGPT last year. I had it explain to me some parts of Hawking’s paper on black hole particle creation, this was only useful for this one case because Hawking had a habit of stating something is true without explaining it and often without providing useful references. For the record, chatGPT was not good at this task, but with enough prodding and steering I was eventually able to get it to explain some concepts well enough for my usage. I just needed to understand a topic, I definitely wasn’t asking chatGPT to do any writing for me, most of what it spits out is flat out wrong.

I once spent a day trying to get it to solve a really basic QM problem, and it couldn’t even keep the maths consistent from one line to another.

For what it’s worth, I don’t really trust these ratings or put much value in them I just didn’t see where they said it was leftist. The UN in general seems more centre left than anything else, but I’m sure one could make a reasonable argument for any centre-ish leanings, I’m not actually taking a position here because I don’t care about the UN, beyond the fact that it sure isn’t leftist.

That’s a pretty reasonable misunderstanding, I don’t speak for anyone but myself but generally as long as there’s no malice involved I’m not upset by an accidental misgendering.

I’m on jerboa too and didn’t even know there were specific pronouns on accounts, I just chucked mine in my bio.

Devices less sophisticated than smart phones were once pretty common in sci-fi novels, but they still achieved the same sort of thing, all the world’s knowledge in the palm of your hand.

You can get smartphones for absurdly cheap these days, and while crappy by modern standards they’re still technological marvels.

Hell yeah, I can get behind this. I can’t comment on the O-Cedar as I can’t get them here and information online is sparse, but the equivalent I get in Australia is made from cellulose and is biodegradable, apparently sadly not including the scourer (after some digging it’s coated in polyurethane).

Protip: Don’t get the scrub daddy, the O-Cedar Scrunge is the highest rated sponge by virtually every chef and test kitchen for a reason, it’s non-scratching but has one of the best scourers ever and will clean stuff up like magic compared to some inferior brands.

If you’re an Australian like me, you can get the Vileda Pur Active which is seemingly identical (I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same company).

The gravitational constant is famously hard to measure, so I can get behind this.

I feel like the difference is what you’re preparing for, when I think of a prepper I’m thinking of people who are planning for an enormous society ending disaster.

I’ve also got a bug out bag, but it’s just for general emergencies if I need to leave my place in a hurry very unexpectedly.

I think this has gone beyond my point so I’ll just state that I don’t have any issue with requiring civility, I didn’t intend to imply anything like that or to take issue with moderation in general, sorry.

I specifically take issue with moderation that minimises and denies an issue that I’m extremely passionate about, but that’s it.

I don’t disagree with your points on the socialist instances, I’m not a socialist and I’m not on those instances, mine is even defederated from hexbear.

My intention was just to point out that the conversation around this issue has, in my experience, been largely a case of ad hominem (as this post literally is) rather than any well meaning good faith discussion.
