Turns out the “Please don’t vote for fascism” vibe isn’t very appealing to the country.

And why is it that only the right should get to move “vibes” by sticking with extreme positions? Especially as things like universal health care, public housing, strong unions or debt free education are just normal in other western countries.

I didn’t say we should give up any of those positions. I was saying policy positions do not consistently translate into votes, and the US electorate is easily spooked by anything they’re told resembles ‘socialism’.

But his support of Israel and their genocide was fine? He was always quite open about his support of Israel, as most US politicians are.

Republicans and Democrats are both (mostly) capitalists. But one is much easier to organize under than the other, not to mention the numerous demographics Republicans target and spread bigotry towards in the hope of creating divisions in the proletariat which can be exploited to perpetuate their system until it straight-up regresses into feudalism. I could go on and on about the differences there, but ultimately, it boils down to not all capitalists are equivalent, and I need people who have any pretense towards seriousness to stop pretending they are. Fuck, even Lenin said as much, but apparently he’s too much of a shitlib or something for some online.

Even if the point of view is that even left-leaning Democrats are just Social Fascists™ inhibiting the True Revolutionary Potential Of The Proletariat, the time to convince your enemies to go mask off and try to crush you is not when you don’t even have a power base set up to resist them. Even assuming I took revolution as gospel instead of an option, the equation of Democrats and Republicans by some self-proclaimed leftists is nothing short of insanity. It’s putting a gun against your head and daring someone to pull the trigger when you have no leverage on them, and they suffer no negative consequences from doing so.

The electorate is actually far more progressive on the issues than the corporate media lets on. But the minute the Democratic Party were to embrace Bernie-style positions? It would be worse than you imagine. Wouldn’t need the liberal media or the big money to move against it. People don’t translate policy positions into support for candidates. They vote on vibes, and any candidate espousing consistently left-wing positions sounds like a dangerous socialist to a good 2/3s of the country.

On a more practical note, as a multiple-suicide-attempt survivor, I can assure anyone here that surviving a suicide attempt fucking sucks. No method is 100%, no matter how hard you try, and you come away with physical and mental scars. If skipping a suicide attempt is at all an option, you absolutely should skip it.

I intend to try to stay alive. But I also intend to be aware that my chances of survival have dropped significantly.
