  • People talk about going back in time to kill Hitler. College humor had a skit where they talked about why you’d have to do it as a baby, and the world would hate you as a kind of funny haha. Or maybe it was stopping 9/11? But imagine going back in time and killing Booth. Even right before the act. “Some guy just showed up and killed America’s second favorite actor, right behind the president!” No way to spin it to them. “No guys I swear he was the bad guy”

  • Feels like it’s a dog whistle most of the time and not a very good one. I’ve seen people assuming that someone isn’t here legally much more often with someone of a different race. A lot of the time people will bring it up for the sake of racism. Inherently? I don’t know if it would be racist to oppose them for it’s own sake, but you’d have to have just as much a problem with the German guy overstaying a visa. I’d also say that opposing it for it’s own sake is unchristian.

  • Looking into it, the department of war had removed the navy 150 years before. Arguably the DoD was a new department to encompass the department of the navy and the department of the army(the previous department of war) without the implication that the army was in charge being associated with the war department without the navy for so long. The naming, I could argue, is disrespectful to the US Navy of the late 1790s to the late 1940s.

  • I try not to feel bad when I’m wrong. There is a whole trillion dollar set of apparatuses at work specifically evolved and designed to trick us into falling for it. I don’t judge for being wrong, but for refusing to admit it when it’s so clear it is sometimes flabbergasting. I’ve tried to see what they see to be fair to them, but they believe an election was stolen because somebody walked by a mailbox in Philly. I can’t understand that level of guillibility if someone is willing to admit they are wrong.
