More like Important Imperials…
The actual message and author aside, did anyone else notice how the text got shorter over time?
From 3 to 1 line over 10 years.
Literally Fahrenheit 451
And TFW program aside, the same principle goes for the housing market. It’s much easier to convince some europeans to pay 1500$ a month for a 3-rooms apartment because they are used to expensive housing. They will generally be less informed about our consumer protection laws and accept any lease, legal or not.
If you want to see it with a more humanitarian perspective, what’s the point of getting so many immigrants if we can’t house them properly or give them proper jobs? It’s not helping them and it’s not helping us that much.
And then you have companies displaying highly skilled job offers at minimum wage knowing nobody sane will apply. Then they claim that no canadian can be hired for their job and they need foreigners. They end up hiring foreigners for half the wage they would pay a canadian and exploit them all they want.
Foreigners are attractive because they don’t know their rights and their value and can easily be abused.
Sure, the program has been created because of a worker’s shortage, but now that jobs are scarce there is no reason to keep it up. --And that’s why the different governments are starting to say that it has to stop.
This year, the largest job fair in Montréal had the double of attendant they had last year. 8000 people looking for a job. Half of them were newly arrived, the other 50% were either jobless, already on the job market or recently graduated.
Yes, but if you facilitate access to foreign workers, let’s say with a “temporary foreign worker program”, like it is the case in Canada, companies will go after them first because they are cheap labor and are easy to abuse. Meanwhile, there are new graduates who struggle to find jobs.
It does not help canadians and it does not help foreigners. Sure, we can always blame the companies, but the government also has it’s part of responsibility by enabling this.
To be fair, the canadian minister of immigration recently admitted that they should have slowed down on immigration sooner.
Landlords and shareholders do have incentives to drive rent up and wages down, and immigration is one way to do it. The housing and job market crisis aren’t there for no reason, and it’s partly due to immigration.
Because there’s nothing to prevent it.
Why would anyone bother learning both Vim and LibreOffice when LibreOffice supports every file format Vim does, and more?
Because Canada has the trashied oil production of the world. It’s all oil sands.
It’s better for the environment to import petrol from the US rather than produce it “locally”.
Well, it would be a bit unfair to talk about “European” games and “Asian” games, and on the other side “USA-made” games.
There are three countries in North America, we should at least include the two others.
You’re right it was only published by Ubi. The Fractured but Whole was developed by Ubisoft*
Fallout, Wasteland, The Elder Scrolls.
Also smaller games come to my mind, like Child of Light or South Park: The Stick Of Truth which are made by Ubisoft Montreal.
I suggest you read about QueerSatanic. TST is known to sue anyone who criticize them. So much for the freedom to offend, I guess.
About the separation of church and state, they haven’t achieved anything. What they fought for is not secularism, but plurality of religion, which is just as bad as nothing - they actually pushed for more religious symbols in public space, instead of fewer. About reproductive rights, or their activism in general, some people fear that they might be causing a second satanic panic, which can only end poorly for satanists all around the world, and give fuel for christian to think that abortion leads to hell.
And as a religion, you can realize that lot of things TST does is un-satanic to begin with; they are martyring themselves and proselytizing. At some point, they are doing the exact same thing they denounce from the christians in the US, like fiscal advantages for churchs and reaching children through an after school program.
If you want a simpler reason to not like them, just know that as a non profit organization, they are not sharing their finance records, which is usually a big red flag. If you want to give to a non-profit, you should at least know where your money is going. Plus, some local branches of TST are actually disaffiliating from the main organization because they don’t like how it’s managed. Finally, there are already organizations that are fighting for everything TST claims to stand for, without the religious cosplay and all the shit around them.
At this point it could also just be a phone app.
Intrusive thoughts are thoughts coming by themselves about bad things when you are somewhat close to a violent or dangerous situation.
For instance, if you give a baby to someone with intrusive thoughts, they could momentarily have the idea of hurting the baby, even if they don’t intent to. Or such person standing near a cliff or up a bridge could have the sudden urge to jump (often called “call of the void”). Or, someone with intrusive thoughts seeing a train coming at full speed in front of them could have sudden thoughts about jumping over the rails.
But who knows. Maybe it’s just me.
Less cops. More people with higher education.
“I sell luxury housing for everyone, it’s not my fault if some people are poor!”
My brother in christ, YOU made poor people.
The belief in a hell or in a Limbo kind of prove that paradise is not for everyone. Depends which dogmas you grew up with, at this point.
About God being sacrificed to himself, it was mainly a way to stop an old tradition of sacrificing goats every year in order to atone for sins. Now people can just say that the Christ already died for that, so they don’t have to act like barbarians and kill poor animals. Which is great, to be fair.
Technically, Satan is a creation of God. Otherwise christianism would be polytheistic. So even if you consider Satan as the good guy, God is still responsible for both good and evil.
Just like Lucifer.
