Blocking people is complete underrated. I block everyone who I recognize their username and it’s make the experience of using internet way smoothly.
basically me when I used discord, there’s too many users on discord and the anime pfp trauma dumping spammers are an easy insta block

i really wish it was more broadly understood that you have to be judicious about blocking people, you can’t just approach online spaces the same way you do things in real life.
In meatspace we have tons of things that automatically enforce good behaviour, just looking at the face of another person as you talk to them triggers all kinds of instincts that make you think about how they feel and not want to be a dick about things. Online we have none of that, so have to go out of your way to pre-empt bad actors and figure out way to signal to each other when you’re not bad actors, it’s a whole mess that we as a species still need to figure out properly.
