minus-squareDannyBoy@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up38·26 天前I feel like that muzzle brake is being asked to do much more than it’s capable of.
minus-squareCobrachicken@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up23·26 天前Reminds me of that memorable day I nearly knocked myself out shooting a .357 magnum. Good thing I wore a helmet.
minus-squaresugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up14·25 天前That was me with a 30-06 as a teen. I had only shot .22LR before then, and didn’t hold on nearly tightly enough. I got a nice ring on my forehead from the scope… We all need to learn to respect larger calibers at some point, that was mine.
minus-squareUranium 🟩@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·25 天前Honestly, it takes surprisingly little recoil to do damage. My dad managed to split his eyebrow with a little .177 BSA 12ftlb air rifle. He didn’t think and rested the scope against his eyebrow; was a blunt, cresent shaped cut. Certainly a good way to learn what not to do
minus-squareFordBeeblebrox@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·25 天前I split my eyebrow with a .22 lr doing the same thing. Glad I learned the lesson on that before my first time firing a .308 or 30-06

A real army helmet.
