Republicans are driven away from Trump because he’s obviously a grifter to anyone with a room temperature IQ, but also leftists don’t have any other option but the center-right Democrats. If we had a healthy spread of parties (enabled by ranked choice voting and the abolition of the electoral college) there is no way you’d see the Cheneys voting in the same bloc with anyone even remotely left.
Bernie and AOC being given a speaker slot at the convention is a radical shift from where leftists were 8 years ago. The idea that the Democrats are moving right while we have declared socialists presenting front and center is a significant misunderstanding of the last 30+ years of political discourse in this country.
