If he doesn’t win, it’s unfair by definition, right?
I’ve lost the ability to even be depressed by this shit anymore.
I feel like there’s a threshold after which you just can’t even question the fairness.
Like if he lost with 20% of the popular vote is he really going to say it was rigged?
It won’t happen but the devil’s advocate in me wants to believe that at some point his copium runs out and he’s humbled.
Like if he lost with 20% of the popular vote is he really going to say it was rigged?
Yes, because he said it was rigged when he won the electoral college vote. He will always say it is rigged no matter what happens because he is parroting Russian disinformation tactics.
The one conspiracy theory I will never back down from is that Trump never intended to win the 2016 election, his loss was supposed to be the launch point for Trump TV. Remember Trump TV? Yeah, nobody does. All those angry voters were supposed to convert to customers and instead they just turned into emboldened fascists.
To be fair, those fascists make great customers.
$400 gold sneakers, $60 bibles, Trump NFTs, a new perfume line, it’s all selling out.
Doesn’t matter. A candidate that threatens violence against the institution is guilty of sedition. That is by definition.
Well you’ve got about 6 months to hit the gym, get some range time in, and collect non-perishable food items. Better get to it.
That’s okay, I’ll be double depressed for the both of us.
There’s a certain point where you shift from abject horror to “…Yeah that may as well just happen.”
Really was hoping that this year was gonna be boring and unremarkable. Next year. Gonna get a winner eventually.
We’ve had four years of boring and unremarkable, with many boring wins. And yet, that’s not what Americans seem to want.
We’ve come to look at the Presidency like it’s a monarchy. The President has broad powers, but it’s only one of the three branches of government; but it’s harder to take your frustrations out in Congress.
Here’s the source article if anyone wants, and the relevant quote:
"He had been asked about an earlier comment to Time that “I think we’re gonna have a big victory and I think there will be no violence” – but “what if you don’t win, sir?” the Time reporter said.
“If we don’t win, you know, it depends. It always depends on the fairness of an election,” Trump went on to say.
He has previously warned of problems if things go wrong for him, writing on social media last year, before he faced any of his four criminal indictments, that “false” charges against him would bring “potential death & destruction.” (He denies all wrongdoing.)"
How is a statement like this not a crime in and of itself? Given his position and his foaming at the mouth supporters, saying something like this is exactly what leads to his psycho fan base to do with they did on January 6th.
He’s been doing stochastic terrorism for years. The lack of consequences for it have been… disappointing.
Work towards peace, prepare for the inevitable.
This is why I say lefties need to arm up… y’know, not to protect yourself, but to wait for the oppertune moment to “cull the herd”.
If gravy seals start busting, bust back.
To echo some of the other comments here…
If you are really concerned about this possibility, please consider getting armed, and training with your weapon(s). Also, and perhaps even more importantly, organize in your community. If you are going to fight/defend, you will need a network of support. Take first aid/stop the bleed courses.
