It’s one of the few features I miss in English (as well as better usability of parenthesis (spoken word, normalization of nesting), but I don’t know any language that has those).
English is indeed very inefficient and chaotic. We need a five-year plan to reform English spelling and grammar, as well as to get rid of useless letters like c, q and x.
