I preliminarily started to boycott art in general to be on the safe side of history roughly in 2020, with some other boycotts I was already upholding before then. The only thing I miss is that I have no hobbies left that I can share with others, at least not without feeling guilty about it.

The four story arcs of a celebrity post-2020

    1. Turned “apolitical” (so as to not alienate viewers)
    2. Turned evil (so as to appease the fascists)
    3. Died of COVID
    4. Weird Al Yankovic

      1. Stopped being a celebrity altogether (either because of pivoting to human rights activism, or just pivoting to capitalism)

I remember a group of whack jobs getting upset with Dolly Parton for promoting COVID vaccines when they first became available.

Anyone who has a problem with Dolly Parton can go fuck themselves with a cactus.

The frontman of Jamiroquai, Jay Kay, has the cleanest wiki of any artist I’ve seen who has been around awhile. No sexual assault allegations, no shady stuff. The worst thing he did was punch a photographer who wouldn’t leave him alone

John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival) is pretty clean and also a really nice guy. He’s been great to fans, refused to drink before performing, publicly loves his family, well spoken, just overall a decent person. He’s been doing stuff with Jesse Welles lately too, who’s a rising leftist political protest singer, and Fogerty’s political views align with Welles’ views.

He did a Reddit AMA a few years back and I remember him responding to fans with full multi-paragraph responses and would answer follow-up questions too. He also continued to respond after when he said he’d stop and was super respectful the whole time. He seemed to genuinely want to interact with fans, not just doing it for the PR.

That’s great to hear and such a shame it’s noteworthy enough for both of us to comment on

That’s also great about Jesse Welles, too. He absolutely deserves the recognition
