      Whether you’re a lady up in here tonight or a Fugee running the seas 'cause you own your own boat, the message just needs to get out: no fighting. The sex on parade in the video is a smokescreen for a deeper and sincere message from her. This is typical for Shakira, who bucked the patriarchal world order in the mid 1990s to become a superstar while still delivering messages important to her. Immigrant rights has always been a big one for her, which I believe contributed to her recent anguished tour cancelations in the states. Next up, let’s break down the lyrics to Poem to a Horse. The horse is a man, of course!
