It finally happened.
Engineers now so used to the convenience of going on War Thunder forums for official manuals that they mistook a joke post for the real thing & built the hedgehog.
(Still the forums will get the blame for leaking this.)

The bus the survivors would escape on if Alfred Hitchcock and George A. Romero collaborated on a film that combines Dawn of the Dead with The Birds.
Wifi signal must be incredible.
TV reception as well! Hell that thing gets ham and bluetooth and whale bands too.
Mommy there is something wrong with the magic school bus!
“Don’t worry dear, Ms Frizzle said you were going on a field trip to Donbas”
Imagine this turning out to be useful, single-handedly winning a lot for Ukraine, and some of the surviving examples get to be showcased in museums, and given names like “Sonic” and “Shadow”.
Wtf is the use of the spikes? Are russians launching people mad max style now?
The idea is to make drones explode as far away from the surface of the vehicle. The cage alone helps, but the spikes might increase the protection by an additional meter.
They’re made of hopium. Meanwhile Ukraine figured out a new rubber laminate armor that’s basically drone proof.
Isn’t this a Ukrainian vehicle as well?
Also, I’d be careful to put this off as ineffective so quickly. When cope cages started to appear on (mainly Russian) vehicles, it was ridiculed. For some of the specific designs that may have been justified, but nowadays we see the idea implemented by the likes of the IDF.
Is this what a drone-proof car looks like? Damn, the war in Ukraine is getting weird.
