  • Interesting take. I personally disagree - I define art as the human experience/emotions being expressed exclusively by humans through various mediums. To me, that human element is what makes art “art” as it were. AI might be able to produce approximations of art and some of it might even look quite nice, but I don’t consider it “art” in the way I define the word.

  • This is how I see vinyl as well. I don’t buy them for the sound quality, I have a huge library of uncompressed digital files for that. I buy them because they’re a nice tactile thing to own that helps support the artists I love. 9 times out of 10 I’m not spinning vinyl when I listen to music, but I will if I want to create a particular experience/vibe in that moment.

  • Normally platforms are around for a while before enshittification kicks in, I see that Digg are cutting straight to the chase before the site even launches.

I probably will check the new Digg out, but I’ve come to the conclusion that all corporate-run social media platforms will go down the road of fucking over their users in the name of profit eventually. I’m not willing to move to another one and build up connections and communities just for some rich fuck to destroy it on a whim. I’m far more interested in helping to build and grow federated platforms like Lemmy so that there is a true alternative outside of their sphere of influence entirely.
