It’s getting harder and harder to actually know what to believe anymore. I know this whole situation isn’t black and white but still. There is always some new snippet to a story that complete 180 degree flips the sides. Who can even tell at this point what is true and what not if you weren’t at the spot where it happened
This the the textbook IDF playbook: flood the zone with shit so people don’t care anymore.
You have to do trend analysis instead of object analysis.
At the end of the day, the only value of the rave story is propaganda to convince people to support either the Westphalian nation-state of Israel or the people of Palestine.
If you analyze the bigger picture and trends, the Westphalian nation-state of Israel started when the English used the doctrine of terra nullius to slaughter Palestinians and establish a place where Europe could send people who were Jewish (since Europe was anti-semitics and didn’t want Jews in their home countries). That community became the Westphalian nation-state of Israel. The Palestinian people still do not have an internationally recognized nation-state. In the trend analysis, what happened at the rave doesn’t matter to this question. The contemporary nation-state we call Israel is built on genocide just like every other colony setup by the Europeans (Canada, USA, Cuba, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, most of South America, etc). It is therefore illegitimate as a nation-state. If over a century of violent oppression led to a bunch of revolutionary resistance fighters killing innocent people at a party, that’s not going to change my mind about what the situation is. It’s going to provide evidence that there is serious suffering and dehumanization that needs to be worked through in order to establish a sustainable solution, but every solution requires an acknowledgement that the contemporary nation-state we call Israel is illegitimate and has no claim to land, resources, or security.
To be clear, the people of Israel, what we might call the nation of Israelites, they have a right to life, to security, to national self direction. That people are different than the state. The state can be dismantled and the people can still have national self direction.
