You spent 16 years learning how to do a thing correctly, why doing things correctly is important, and who you need to work with in order to succeed at a large scale project.
Then some asshole who didn’t spend 16 years learning to do the thing decided to replace you with a chatbot that tells them “Great Idea! Ignoring OSHA standards will save a lot of money. Reducing the amount of concrete in the structure is actually climate friendly. And don’t worry, jet fuel can’t melt steel beams. Let me produce a schematic you can use to build this in half the time.”
Some folks will despair, because they see this economic sea change hurts their short term economic prospects. Other folks will despair, because they aren’t sure whether the next building they step into is going to collapse on their heads after a strong wind hits it.
Really wondering how long we’ve got before Copilot in Excel causes some major accounting errors.
At some point, if you’re not trapping for errors in your Excel spreadsheet already, copilot isn’t going to make a huge difference.
The scammy part is where they expect you to get a job and judge you if you dont have one.
Except if you inherit money. Those people deserve it.
