Good for them. There is no excuse or mitigating circumstances that should allow people to support or turn a blind eye to genocide. It’s (hopefully) going to be interesting seeing the progression of EU states turning away from their unqualified support of Israel.

This should be fun for the EU. I’m not an international-relations expert, but it has seemed for months as though Brussels is waiting for a finger to point.

I think it is von der Leyen specifically more than ‘Brussels’. She is often criticized for overreaching on her statements on foreign policy. Borrell (the previous foreign policy representative of the EU, from Spain) was very vocal about this

This isn’t particularly new, they’ve been calling it a genocide for a while now and taken several previous actions.

I’m not sure what the EU finger pointing means, though. Them following suit or the opposite? I don’t think they’ll have much to say either way.

there is an exception to the use of airspace for delivering weapons: As part of NATO, US aircraft have access to bases in Spain that they can still use to deliver weapons to Israel.

I’m proud that Spain is taking a stand here. I also love the way they push back on the US with their defence spending thing (which is only for the benefit of their military industrial complex). They also cancelled F-35 orders in response to Trump’s tariffs.

It’s a stark contrast to the Netherlands that let an already-fallen government collapse again just so they didn’t have to say anything untoward to Israel. Such stringpuppets.

Netherlands and Germany have absolutely surrendered to Trump. it’s quite pathetic.
