Friendly reminder that Seattle’s current city attorney is a trump backing Republican who was elected all because Seattle at the time was too scared of a candidate who once talked about abolishing the police.

The author here is running for the position and if you’re in Seattle I highly encourage supporting him. We have a chance to drastically shift the center right city government that has plagued our city these last few years

This is another good example of leftist policies causing an election loss. Even in a place as blue as Seattle.

This is a good example of people not understanding what they’re being lied to about, being fed endless propaganda/copaganda and fear based on whateverthefuck, not understanding how governments work or how their rights are being stripped away.

Yet here you have a militarized white supremacist union - wholly unaccountable to civilians or the law - willing and openly boasting about killing people.

The American dream is just around the corner.

Defunding the police is actually popular as long as you don’t call it ‘defunding the police’.

          Election results say otherwise

Except that’s not really true. She didn’t run on that at all. It was a tweet from long before the election that the right wing used to tarnish her

But she lost because voters were convinced she ran on that leftists policy. Whether she actually did doesn’t change the intentions of the voters.

that isnt true as you have seen in recent news musk had rigged the election machines, and you should be more cognizant of the fact that voter suppression plays a heavy role. sexisms, and racism were crucial amongs the republican voters.

A time element for the election would be nice here to understand the context. I’ve not lived in Seattle for 25 years, so I don’t remember the cycles, and I’m too mentally exhausted to deal with a search engine.

Elections are this November. A ton of seats up. Shitty center right mayor. Shitty right wing city attorney. Shitty right wing city council president, among others.

The current city attorney was voted in 4 years ago in 2021

Wasn’t old enough to have any opinion of him but I just asked my dad who’s been living here since '89 and he thinks our current mayor is worse lmao

Schell is the only politician I went after off campus. Locke was fucking useless, but Schell loved to fuck up at every chance he got.

And I ran the editorial board at Seattle’s third-largest daily (bearing in mind the P-I was still printing), so I got to do it anonymously.
